Black Women Bike: DC & GirlTrek: Take A Walk, Join A Movement! present Sisterhood Saturdays on Saturday July 19, 2014.

We want you to get moving with your sisters. Bring your bike and ride or tie up your sneakers and walk. It's about moving.

The Details
9:00-9:30am Check-in
10:00-11:30am Bike and/or Walk
Specific Meeting location: In the parking lot near the East Potomac Pool.

Who should attend?
All ages and abilities welcome. LADIES ONLY!

What to bring?
- Water
- Comfortable shoes
- Bike & helmet (You MUST have a helmet to participate in the ride)
- A friend/neighbor/co-worker/sistergirl/daughter/niece/cousin
- An open mind

What happens if it is raining?
The walk portion of Sisterhood Saturdays with Girl Trek will occur rain or shine. However, for safety reasons we may cancel the bike ride if it is raining. Be sure to check facebook, twitter, or our website after 8:00 AM on the morning of the ride/walk.

Ladies,

There is a chance it will be raining in the morning. The walk portion of Sisterhood Saturdays with Girl Trek will occur rain or shine. However, for safety reasons we will cancel the bike ride if it is raining. We will make a decision regarding the bike ride at 8:00 AM. Be sure to check facebook, twitter, our website or call 202-810-4292 after 8:00 AM tomorrow morning.

If we cancel for rain, we will host a bike ride on Sunday morning, same place, same time.

Did you miss our surviving the streets of DC?

On April 26, 2014 we hosted "Surviving the Streets on a Bike". Attendees learned about proper lane positions, "taking the lane", how to navigate intersections, and how to bike on multilane roads.  After a two hour seminar, attendees had an opportunity to practice on a pre-determined route.

EVENT: Surviving the Streets on a Bike

Saturday April 26, 2014

9:30am - 12:30pm

Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments 

Training Center

777 N. Capitol Street NE

In preparation for Bike to Work Day, BWB will be hosting a seminar on how to bike on the roads safely, followed by a bike ride on the streets of DC (because if you can survive DC, you can survive anything).

9:30am - 11:30am Safety Seminar 
At the seminar you will learn the ABCs of bike safety, how to navigate an urban area, and how to be visible to motorists. We will provide you with a bike map, so you can map your route from home to work.

11:30am - 12:30PM Bike Ride 
We will take a short ride around the streets of DC, so you can become comfortable riding with motorists on the road.

Who should attend?
All levels who want to be more comfortable biking on the road.

What to bring? 
- Photo ID (You will need it to get into the building)
- Bike
- Helmet (You MUST have a helmet to participate in the ride)
- A friend/neighbor/sistergirl
- An open mind
